Pick Up Your Badges Early: Shorter Lines, Less Hassle

by | Jun 7, 2018

Our early badge pickup returns for 2018! Picking up your badges early allows you to avoid the longer lines and generally larger crowds that typically occur on the days when the convention is open.

Take our advice: It will make your life much easier when you arrive at the convention center (especially if you are attending with a group or with kids) if you pick up your badges early.

This year’s early pickup is on:

THURSDAY, JUNE 14
10 A.M. TO 6 P.M.
COLORADO CONVENTION CENTER
LOBBY B

If you’re unsure about the location of the B Lobby, or would like to see where all of the entry points are this year, check out the 2018 entry map at:

Also, if you’re unsure about how the new Flash Seats process works, especially when it comes to exchanging e-tickets for badges, we created a comprehensive blog and FAQ for you at:

Need more details? The FAQ below will answer many of the questions we’re receiving the most.

But, if there is still something you need answered, please don’t hesitate to send email to info@popcultureclassroom.org. We’re here to help!

Can Anyone Who’s Purchased a Ticket Pickup Their Badge(s) Early?

Yes. Anyone who has purchased a ticket, and has those tickets showing in their Flash Seats app/account, can participate in early badge pickup.

What If I Lose My Badge Before (or After) I Arrive and Enter the Con?

If you lose your badge(s) before the con begins, contact ticketing@popcultureclassroom.org immediately. If you lose your badge(s) during the con, visit one of the convention center entry points and speak to a ticketing representative.

What Do I Do, Exactly, If I Want to Pick Up My Badges Early?

Visit Lobby B of the Colorado Convention Center on Thursday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you’re not sure where that is, we’ve created a map for you HERE. Walk up to one of the ticketing representatives, open the Flash Seats app on your mobile device, show them the QR code for your tickets, and they will hand you your badges.

NOTE: If you don’t have your phone with you, no worries.  Present the credit card you used to purchase the ticket and the DCC representative will be able to look up your record and provide you with your badge(s). With Flash Seats, you may also register your driver’s license online at flashseats.com and use for entry into DCC.

Can I Pick Up All of the Badges for My Group at One Time?

Yes. BUT, the tickets must be showing in your Flash Seats account. You can pick up all badges showing in your Flash Seats account, all at once, and the other badge holders do not need to be with you.

I Purchased the Tickets, Can I Send Someone Else to Pick Up My Badges for Me?

Under normal circumstances, no. The ticketing representatives will only give badges to the person who has the tickets showing in their Flash Seats app (or who, by presenting a photo ID or credit card, proves they are the ticket purchaser).

Flash Seats does have an advanced feature that allows you to transfer tickets to another person’s Flash Seats account, which would then allow them to pick up the badges for you. For further information on that feature, visit the Flash Seats FAQ page on their website HERE.

What Are My Options If I Don’t Pick Up My Badge Early?

If you do not pick up your badges early you will need to go through the standard badge exchange process outlined in the blog post and FAQ HERE.

I seriously now have to take another day off work to accommodate your ridiculous early badge pickup hours? No evening pickup like in prior years? And you don’t bother to tell anybody about this until a week before the con? The management running this con is getting worse and worse every year.

T, you do not have to do early badge pick up in order to receive your badge. You may also exchange your e-ticket for a badge any day of the con.

I still don’t understand… Is the line for picking up your badge on Con day the same as the entry line? I guess what I’m asking is, say, I’ve already picked up my 3-day pass on Friday, and on Saturday, is there a different line for me to enter since I have my badge as opposed to the people who are picking up their Saturday-only badge? The maps don’t show a difference in lines… Or is picking up your badge going to Will-Call so you line up for entry 2?

    • Tara

Kayna, it is the same line and the same process no matter which entrance you choose. So, you’ll enter, go through security (bag and prop check), and then go through badge exchange. However, if you have your badge already, you’ll just skip past the badge exchange step and enter the con.

I don’t see how someone without the special “flash app” can get their tickets. I purchased 3 passes for the entire weekend and I haven’t received them in the mail like last year. Now the newsletter says I have to go a day early in order to get my passes? Or get them at the gate after the convention center opens, taking up more convention time?

I would like my tickets before the convention starts please. And I don’t think I should have to travel to the convention center a day early to get them. If I am missing some piece of information about getting my tickets please clue me in.

Robert, if you purchased in advance, you should have electronic tickets. If you choose to do so, you can download the Flash Seats app in order to see them. When you arrive to the Convention Center, either early on Thursday or on the first day you attend the con, you will exchange those Flash Seats tickets for a physical badge. You can exchange using the Flash Seats app, a photo ID or the credit card you used to make the purchase.

ok, I just read more of the FAQ, looks like everyone has to “check-in” and I just need ID and CC to get my badges.

so…really I have my badge already, NM. And thanks for all the work. Last year was great.

Looking at the map, Speed Pass and General Admission are using the same entrance. Will there be separate lines for each badge type?

    Reply
    • Tara

Abel, Speed Pass holders will have a separate line inside the building for security and badge exchange. They will also have separate lines for entrance onto the Main Show Floor as well as the main events panels.

Hi ~ do attendees still queue up outside the convention center ahead of the posted start time each day? I last attended in 2016 and wasn’t sure if everyone still queued up outside leading up to the posted entry time. Thanks!

    Reply
    • Tara

Andrew, yes. There are typically people lined up outside as early as 7 or 8 a.m.

Last year speed pass holders were allowed early entry into the building to be able to obtain their t-shirts included in the entry fee before then being admitted to the main floor at the regular entry time with all other ticket holders. Is anything being done like that this year? Or perhaps the t-shirt can be obtained during the early badge pick-up?

    • Tara

Mark, you can pick up your Speed Pass swag during early badge pick up if you’d like between the hours of 2-6 p.m.

Is it sad that I don’t trust this process at all? Now because I don’t want to stand in two long lines, I have to trek up to the convention center, pay to park, and pick up my badge.

I have tickets for Saturday & Sunday. Can I show up Friday afternoon to do my pass exchange so that my process is faster when I’m actually going in the next day?

    Reply
    • Tara

Christina, yes you may. You can exchange your e-ticket for a badge any day of the con.

I don’t understand “badge exchange” terminology. It sounds as though you stand in line to get a badge and then you exchange the badge for something else to actually get into the facility? Why the need to get a badge that you then exchange? I’m lost. What’s getting exchanged? And please, please, please confirm there is proper signage upon arrival for those attendees with badges around their necks? !!! I’m concerned I’ll drive into the city for early badge pickup and then return Friday all happy with a badge around my neck and then not be able to find the door where I go in with a badge around my neck. The map doesn’t state a door for those with badges around their necks.

Hello! What’s getting exchanged is your e-ticket/Flash Seat for a physical badge that you wear around your neck during the weekend. You exchange your e-ticket on site during the entry process, right after going through security. If you’d like to speed up your entry, you can exchange your e-ticket for a badge tomorrow from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. in the B Lobby of the Convention Center.

There is no special entrance for folks who have a badge vs. those who don’t. However, once you have yours, you can skip the “exchange” step and just enter the con after clearing security.

Can we pick up our badge at any time or is there a time where we can’t get them anymore? Like say, I purchase a ticket for Friday but I cant go until after work. Am I still allowed to get my badge after I get off work on Friday? (A time after 2pm)
